These days there are so many choices available to you when you want to create a website. You can build a static website or you can go for a content management system (CMS). Each has its pros and cons and your choice will depend on your needs.
A static website is ideal when you want to build a 'brochure' site. That is a website which has about 5-10 pages of content about your business and the services you offer. You create it once and it doesn't need a lot of changes. You might give the design a makeover every two or three years but the actual content doesn't change much. Static websites tend to be quicker and easier to develop and for most businesses they are sufficient.
Content Management System
For those that want a bit more out of their website, content management systems do the job. Lately content management systems have seen a massive increase in popularity amongst small businesses. With a CMS you can have as many or as little pages of content as you want.
Once the site is set up with the design you want, regularly updating it with new content is a breeze and it doesn't cost you anything extra. The ease of updating a website is a CMS's strong point. If you want to compete nowadays you have to communicate with your customers and what a better way to do it than through your website. It is not only your customers that will love a regularly updated site but Google will love you too.
Initially a CMS is a little more expensive than a static site and it takes more time to plant it, develop it and train people on how to use it but in the long run you save a lot of time and money.
